Police are appealing for information after a dog was attacked and fatally injured by another dog in front of her 13-year-old owner.

It happened in the village of Lypiatt near Stroud, Gloucestershire. The young girl was walking her two pets when they were approached by two Huskies in parkland known as The Heavens.

The Huskies began barking and one attacked the girl's Jack Russell - taking her in its mouth. The girl tried to free her pet but the second Husky barked and bared its teeth at her.

Although the girl was unhurt, her Jack Russell died from her injuries after being taken to the vet.

Attempts are now being made to trace the woman who owns the two Huskies. She shouted after them and put the dogs back on a lead after the incident - but made no attempt to help the girl and left the scene leaving no details.
