A man who started a petition for a Wales fanzone - but was left without a ticket to the very event he campaigned for - has now secured a place.

Mark Jones said he was "heartbroken" after 20,000 free Principality Stadium tickets were snapped up in 90 minutes, meaning he couldn't go.

But after supporters rallied on Twitter, Mark told ITV News he had secured a place at the organised fan event - and thanked everyone who had helped him.

Prince Charles says 'huge good luck' to Wales

Prince Charles has wished the Welsh football team "huge good luck" ahead of their Euro 2016 semi-final against Portugal tomorrow night.

While on a tour of Gwynedd in the north-west of the country, The Prince of Wales said: "I'm sure they've got a very good chance of beating Portugal. Everybody will be keeping their fingers crossed."

Experts predict power demand for Wales v Portugal

Experts are predicting a surge in power demand as Wales take on Portugal in their Euro 2016 semi-final on Wednesday.

Analysts at the National Grid anticipate a 500 megawatt surge at half time - the equivalent of 200,000 kettles being switched on at once, or enough to power an area two-and-a-half times the size of Cardiff in winter.

They said the surge in demand, known as 'TV pick-up', occurs as people boil kettles, open fridge doors or turn on the lights at the same time - often at the end of programmes or during breaks.

A spokeswoman for the company said staff will be watching the game live to know when demand for power will increase.

Cardiff MP rallies to help fanzone petitioner get ticket

The MP for Cardiff Central has tweeted her support after the football fan who campaigned for a Cardiff fanzone himself missed out on a ticket.

A petition started by Mark Jones led to a fanzone being set up for Euro 2016, first in Coopers Field, then tomorrow at the Principality Stadium due to demand.

But he's been left without access to the very event he helped create after tickets sold out in 90 minutes.

Now Labour MP Jo Stevens has rallied to try to help Mark get a ticket.

Fan who campaigned for fanzone misses out on ticket

An avid Welsh football fan who campaigned for a fanzone in Cardiff has himself missed out on a ticket to the semi-final screening at the Principality Stadium.

Mark Jones campaigned for Cardiff to have a fanzone before the start of the tournament.

Mark Jones, from Pontypool, set up a petition for the capital to have a fanzone ahead of the European Championship.

Cardiff Council then decided to bring one to Cooper's Field for the duration of the tournament.

Due to Wales' success by reaching the semi-final, the decision was made to move the fanzone to the Principality Stadium. Tickets were released at 10am this morning but quickly sold out.

Between bandwagon-jumpers and event hawks, I missed out on a ticket to my own fanzone.

I'm heartbroken.

The whole idea of switching to the Principality Stadium was so more people could go. And yet, I campaigned for it, I haven't missed one fanzone - and now I can't go.

– Mark Jones
