From sweet treats to 'dazzling' light shows: Cardiff Christmas market reopens after pandemic hiatus
Watch: ITV Reporter Charanpreet Khaira goes down to Cardiff Christmas Market to meet stallholders on opening night.
Step in to Christmas as festive food, fun and artisan gifts return to the streets of Cardiff after a disrupted year.
Last year's market was shut early due to Covid-19 restrictions that came into force before the Christmas holidays.
This year, the market has returned and is located in St Johns Street, Working Street, Trinity Street and the Hayes.
Each stall has a unique variety of items and services available to the public.
Sarah Mapstone from Llanmead Crafts has been selling artisan gifts for 11 years alongside her husband.
"It's a small business", she explained, "my husband makes everything for the business in our workshops. I do the smile and sell it!"
On Sarah's stall is a range of beautiful handmade gifts, including wooden bowls.
"Each bowl is from locally sourced reclaimed wood so we can generally tell the person what the wood is and where it's come from", Sarah said.
Down the row of stalls comes an array of smalls and beautiful sights, from elaborate hot chocolate to delicious Welsh honey.
"This honey comes from Builth Wells where I am based", Shane Llewellyn-Jones from Bee Welsh Honey Company said.
"I started keeping bees when I was 12. 30 years later I am running around 200 hives in mid-Wales.
"People are so surprised that they are buying the honey direct from the bee-keeper. It's not overly processed - just completely natural as it comes out of the hives".
From hot chocolates to mulled wine, there is something for everyone to indulge in.
The market organisers Craft*Folk have also announced that from late November, the park will be taken over by "dazzling light displays, interactive installations, a flickering fire area, an enchanting fairy tree forest, laser shows and mirror balls".
The market is open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays.
It will remain open to the public until the 23rd of December.
