Barriers installed on Cardiff Bay steps after large group gatherings
Parts of Cardiff Bay have been cordoned off following anti-social behaviour problems in recent weeks.
Last weekend, crowds gathered at the Oval Basin area and police confirmed that they had arrested two people following an altercation.
Large amounts of rubbish were also left behind.
Police had been given extra dispersal powers after the anti social incidents in Cardiff Bay meaning that they can ban people from the area for 48 hours.
On Friday, the force confirmed the steps of the Oval Basin had been cordoned off by the council.
Speaking to ITV Wales this week, South Wales Police Chief Superintendent Wendy Gunney said demands on the police during the pandemic has been "challenging".
"Cardiff is a brilliant vibrant place that welcomes a number of visitors every year," she said.
"This weekend we have worked to make this feel and look different to the public.
"They will see a better police presence and there will be some barriers and more bins. We are looking to meet, greet and welcome people just to enjoy the space.
"The demands on policing has been quite great during the pandemic, it has made it a real challenge. We have relied on people to behave responsibly. This weekend we felt we needed more structure and more control."
