When does Cardiff's al fresco area on Castle Street open and how will it work?
One of Cardiff's most famous streets has been transformed into an al fresco dining area.
The outdoor eating area on Castle Street allows businesses to trade outside in a socially-distanced way - with customers able to order food and drinks from an app which will be delivered to their table.
The new area in the city centre gives restaurants and cafes access to extra outdoor seating.
When does it open?
The outdoor dining area, known as the Castle Quarter Cafe opened on Friday 31 July after the original opening day was postponed.
How will it work?
There are no advance bookings at the eating area and groups of no more than six can pick an empty table of their choice. Parties will be able to keep their table for up to 2 hours.
Customers wanting to order will need to find the QR code sign on the table and scan the code with a mobile phone camera. Alternatively, diners can visit the website on their browser.
Food can then be ordered through the app or website with payment taken from a credit or debit card. A wait time will be given and all orders will be delivered directly to the table.
The organisers say hand sanitiser will be provided and cleaning staff will be permanently based on site to keep the area clean and clear. Customers will be asked to take their waste to the recycling point on the way out.
Will there be toilets available?
The site toilets are located in the clock tower car park and include a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.
