Plans for an outdoor eating area on Cardiff's Castle Street have been released by the council.

The artist's impression shows how the new hospitality area will allow businesses to trade outside in a socially-distanced way - with customers able to order food and drinks from an app.

The scheme is part of a wider range of measures being put in place in the city centre to increase useable, outdoor space. Visitors will be able to get food and drinks for delivery from a selection of restaurants and cafes.

The council are hoping the new outdoor area will be available to use by the end of the July with work on asphalting Cardiff Street already taking place. The traffic lane next to the iconic castle is being removed so the pavement can be extended into the road for pedestrians and cyclists to use.

A one-way pedestrian route has already been suggested to ensure social distancing, along with more pop-up cycle lanes to encourage people to leave their cars at home.
