An 18-year-old who was involved in the raid on Cardiff City captain Sol Bamba's house has avoided jail after it became apparent he was a victim of modern slavery

Daniel Flynn, of Rumney, was in a gang of three who hit Bamba's home whilst the footballer was away playing in France in July 2019.

The player's wife and three children were also away at the time of the break-in.

South Wales Police said that around £90,000 was stolen during the raid, including a Louis Vuitton bag, a Cartier watch and a Chanel bag.

Bamba's £62,000 Range Rover was also taken from the driveway.

Appearing at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday, the teen was spared jail with Judge Richard Twomlow stating he was a 'reluctant participant'.

The 18-year-old was handed an 18 month community order, ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work and also 25 days rehabilitation activity.

An accomplice in the burglary Kyle Harris 25, was jailed for two years earlier this month.
