Mother of Carson Price feels 'relief' as teenager pleads guilty to supplying her son with Class A drugs
The mother of a boy who died after taking an ecstasy tablet said she feels some "relief" that a 15-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to supplying a Class A drug to her son.
The defendant, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared at Cwmbran Youth Court on Tuesday 28 July and will be sentenced on August 18.
Carson Price was found unconscious in a park in Ystrad Mynach, near Caerphilly, in April 2019 after having taken an ecstasy tablet.
He was later pronounced dead at hospital and a coroner ruled he died as a result of taking "excessive" amounts of ecstasy.
Carson's mother, Tatum Price, said she feels "relief" that the teenager who supplied the drug has "acknowledged what he has done" and she hopes this will give her some closure.
Carson's mother, Tatum Price, said since losing her son she has just been taking things "one day at a time" because life has been changed completely.
Tatum said she feels relieved that the 15-year-old who sold her son drugs has "acknowledged what he has done" by pleading guilty.
She added that this will not bring justice because "it will never take away the pain" of losing her son but it may help her deal with the grief.
On Tuesday, Cwmbran Youth Court heard how the teenage defendant had arranged the sale of three pills over Snapchat before meeting Carson, who was on his way to meet friends in the park on April 12 2019.
They also heard how the boy who supplied the tablet had tried to source more drugs to sell five days after Carson's death.
The 15-year-old spoke at the youth court only to confirm his name, date of birth, and to plead guilty to supplying the Class A drugs.
District Judge Martin Brown said to the defendant: "This won't be something the family of the deceased recovers from very easily, if it all.
"I want to know if you have learned from this experience, because it's troubling. Even after this situation had become grave, it seems you were still attempting to source tablets for sale. That I find extremely worrying."
The judge adjourned the sentencing until August 18.
Gwent Police said a 22-year-old man from Caerphilly who was arrested on suspicion of the supply of Class A drugs remains released under investigation.
Carson Price was pronounced dead at the University Hospital of Wales in April last year after he was found in a park in Ystrad Mynach "in and out of consciousness".
A coroner ruled that the schoolboy died from a "violent reaction" to ecstasy after he took the Donkey Kong-branded ecstasy tablet.
Following his death, Carson's family urged people to talk about the "devastating consequences that drugs can have".
