Singing trio perform with Prince Charles' official harpist at home during lockdown
Classical singing trio Athena have recorded a cover of 'Hushabye Mountain' from the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang alongside the official harpist to the Prince of Wales.
Sopranos Gwawr Edwards and Ellen Williams, and mezzo-soprano Sioned Terry have been singing together since 2017. During lockdown, they have enlisted the help of harpist Alis Huws, to accompany them.
The trio were meant to be performing a headline show on three cruises between March and April but they have all been postponed or cancelled, along with many other concerts that had been in the diary for the group.
The group has been trying to stay positive by holding virtual rehearsals and composing new arrangements for the future. They hope to organise a live "home concert" very soon.
The singers said: "At such a worrying time, turning to music and rehearsing with the help of technology, or even just logging on to video call for a chat, is a welcome escape from the terrible reality of the news."
They have also recorded a beautiful rendition of Calon Lân from their homes during lockdown.
