Staff applaud as first Royal Gwent Hospital Covid-19 patient discharged from intensive care
The first Covid-19 patient at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport has been discharged from intensive care.
The video from Aneurin Bevan University Health Board shows hospital workers applauding Scott Howell as he is pushed out of the hospital ward, and he shows his own appreciation by applauding back.
He has now returned home to his wife and four children.
Mr Howell said: "The staff here saved my life - I was in a coma inintensive care and my heart stopped twice."

Intensive care consultant Dr Dave Hepburn described it as a "massivelift for staff across the health board".
"Scott was as ill as anybody can be, so to see him leaving the hospitalhas been a massive lift for staff across the health board," Dr Hepburnsaid.
"All the hardship and pressure we are facing at the moment is allworth it when you see people like Scott get better and reunited withtheir families - it's the best gift we can receive."
