Staff applaud as first Princess of Wales Hospital Covid-19 patient discharged from intensive care

The first Covid-19 patient at Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, has been discharged from intensive care.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board shared the moment Andrew Jenkins was discharged from the intensive therapy unit on social media.

The video shows hospital workers applauding Mr Jenkins as he is pushed out of the intensive therapy unit.

Mr Jenkins' husband thanked staff at the hospital for their care.

Gareth Jones tweeted: "I've said it a few times today and once more is not enough but THANK YOU all in the ITC for looking after Andrew."

Staff lined the corridors to cheer and clap as Mr Jenkins was wheeled out of ITU.

Hospitals across Wales and the rest of the UK have also been sharing uplifting videos of Covid-19 patients being discharged.
