More than 25,000 people have been tested here, of whom 16,670 tested negative.

Today's Public Health Wales figures at a glance:

  • 8,358 total confirmed Covid-19 cases (of which 234 were new reports today)

Dr Frank Atherton told ITV News there is evidence the virus has been 'contained' in the current phase.

On Tuesday, Wales' Chief Medical Officer told ITV News the cases of coronavirus are "moving in the right trajectory" as people across the country adhere to the government's lockdown measures.

The restrictions, which limit people's movements, were put in place to keep the number of patients at a manageable level for hospitals - known as "flattening the curve."

In an interview on Wales at Six, Dr Frank Atherton said, "In the current wave of transmission that we are in, we haven't just flattened the curve, we've completely squashed the curve.

"That speaks volumes to the people of Wales who are acting responsibly and following the rules around the lockdown because that is reducing transmission, and that is saving lives."

Recent figures point to a 'levelling-off' of new cases of coronavirus in Wales.

Monday's figures from Public Health Wales suggested the number of new cases of coronavirus in Wales are levelling off.

But officials stressed that the current social distancing rules should remain in place for now.

Last week, First Minister Mark Drakeford announced there would be a further three weeks of lockdown in Wales and across the UK.
