NHS nurse gets a hero's welcome from her family after every shift

An NHS nurse receives a hero's welcome from her family at the end of every shift.

Lynne Lakes, a practice nurse from Connah's Quay, has been nursing for 38 years.

To show their appreciation for what she does, her husband Richard, sons Jon and Peter, daughter Zoe and Zoe's fiancé, Joshua, form a guard of honour in the hallway each night to greet her.

They have been surprising her with something different every day - including roses, balloons and confetti.

Her son Jon has been sharing the heartwarming moments on social media, which have since gone viral.

Lynne says her family's actions have given her a real boost.

"It lifted me and I felt I could leave everything behind that I'd been involved in at work", she told ITV News.

"Coming home was like 'aw, I'm home!"

Son Pete said their mum just wants to make others happy.

"Everything she does is so selfless", he said.

"She barely does anything for herself, and whenever she does she's thinking of someone else and how can she do something else to make someone happy.

"For all of us, she'll go out of her way to make us happy... she's just the most selfless person anyone knows."
