Norovirus outbreak detected in Gorseinon, Morriston, Singleton and Neath Port Talbot hospitals
A norovirus outbreak has been detected in hospitals across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.
The virus has been detected at Gorseinon, Morriston, Singleton and Neath Port Talbot hospitals.
Gorseinon Hospital has been closed to new admissions - as have wards at Morriston and Neath Port Talbot.
Swansea Bay University Health Board says it has traced the outbreak to an individual who was caring for someone with norovirus at home and then came into contact with patients.
The health board is urging people to stay away from hospital if they feel unwell or have exhibited any norovirus related symptoms in the last few days.
Those symptoms include:
Nausea.
Vomiting.
Abdominal pain or cramps.
Watery or loose diarrhea.
Malaise.
Low-grade fever.
Muscle pain.
People are being advised that the best way to protect yourself from the norovirus is by washing your hands regularly with soap and water.
The health board is also advising people not to bring their children in to the hospitals to visit.
