Wales' oldest poppy seller Ron Jones dies aged 102

Wales' oldest poppy seller and war veteran Ron Jones has died at the age of 102, his family has confirmed. He passed away this morning whilst he was in hospital.

Mr Jones was a prisoner of war during World War II. He witnessed first-hand the horrors of Auschwitz, endured a brutal death march and lived to tell the tale.

He spent 30 years raising money for the British Legion and worked tirelessly to help other veterans.

Mr Jones' son Leighton described him as a "caring and loving father" who had become "something of a celebrity" over the last few years due to his wartime experience and selling poppies.
