Wales' football star Gareth Bale has stolen the number two spot in the young sports star Sunday Times Rich List.

With a wealth of £94 million, Bale weighs in as wealthier than world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (£49million) and Manchester City golden boy Sergio Aguero (£58million).

In September 2013, the Welsh winger was transferred to Real Madrid for an alleged £85.3 million, which would make him the clubs most expensive player.

Topping this year's list, however, is Northern Ireland's champion golfer Rory McIlroy. He came in with a wealth of £138million.

Bale, who currently lives in Spain to be close to his club Real Madrid, also has a home in south Wales complete with a golf course in his back garden.

The Cardiff-born footballer is known for his generosity and charity work.

In April 2018, Bale and former Wales international Sam Warburton donated their sports kit to raise £40,000 to pay for life-changing spinal surgery for a young Welsh girl.

He also helped campaign for 'For Luca' helping raise £1.5million to buy prosthetic legs for Luca Williams from South Wales who lost his legs to meningitis.
