Leanne Wood: The membership of Plaid Cymru is impatient, people want to see success much quicker
Plaid Cymru's Leanne Wood says the party membership is "impatient" for more success, more quickly.
The former leader was speaking to ITV Wales after losing the leadership election to Adam Price.
Responding to the outcome, Ms Wood says people in the party "want to see success much quicker than it has been".
Leanne Wood led Plaid Cymru for six years before coming third in the recent leadership election.
Adam Price, AM for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr, challenged the leader alongside Rhun ap Iorwerth, AM for Ynys Môn.
Asked about the similarities between herself and the new leader, Ms Wood said the membership was "impatient" and that "there are many factors contributing to the reasons behind Plaid Cymru not doing as well as perhaps we would have all liked to."
In the run up to the leadership election, Plaid's four MPs in Wesminster backed other candidates over Leanne Wood.
Speaking to ITV Wales the former leader said she's "trying not to" take the loss personally. Ms Wood said "I've always been very careful to separate politics from personalities and personal feelings and so I've got to lick my wounds and carry on."
