A man was killed and another seriously injured in a crash in Bangor after car travelled in wrong direction

A man has died and another has been seriously injured after a crash on the A55 near Talybont, Bangor last night.

Emergency services attended but the driver of the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the eastbound carriageway between Llanfairfechan and Talybont around 9:30pm, where a Nissan car, which was travelling in the wrong direction, collided with a silver Hyundai.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor by ambulance and he has since been transferred to hospital in Stoke with serious, life-changing injuries.

The road was closed whilst officers from the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit carried out enquiries. It re-opened shortly after 4am this morning.
