1st Battalion Welsh Guards plant 2,000 oak trees in First World War commemorations
Soldiers from the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards have overseen the planting of 2,000 oak trees to mark the centenary of the Battle of the Somme.
More than 50 troops from the battalion were joined by youngsters from the Army Cadet Forces in Wales and the Military Preparation College, assisting the Woodland Trust in developing a woodland in memory and recognition of World War 1.
The mass tree planting initiative took place n heavy rain and on soggy ground at Coed Ffos Las, near Llanelli.
The Woodland Trust is commemorating the historic events of WW1 by honouring all those involved by creating four Centenary Woods across the UK.
