Warren Gatland has apologised, after describing an incident between Wales prop Samson Lee and England's Joe Marler as 'banter.'
Marler was heard was heard referring to Lee's gypsy heritage on the referee's microphone during the match. During a press conference yesterday, Gatland described the comment as 'banter,' but has since been criticised for his own comments.
The WRU has also released a statement to say it doesn't condone racism and that it recognised Gatland's 'overriding intention' was to protect Samson Lee by playing down the incident. Lee himself says he accepted Marler's apology on Saturday.
