Community concerned as lifeboat station put up for sale

A new £11m lifeboat station is being built next to the one now put up for sale.

Residents and business owners living close to a former lifeboat station in St Davids are concerned they'll lose their only access to the sea if the boathouse is sold.

The former St David's lifeboat station has been put up for sale by the RNLI whilst a new one is being built next to it.

Some members of the local community are concerned the sale might affect tourism.

It’s also claimed the sale of the property is threatening the future of tourist boat trips in the area.

Tens of thousands of sightseers every year go on the trips that launch from the slipway at St Justinians.

Mike Rogers owns a boat in the area. He says he's concerned about the future if the community aren't able to access the water:

The deadline for 'expressions of interest' in buying the property ends today.

The RNLI says if not buyers can be found for the old station it will be demolished.
