This is what it takes to build a lifeboat station! Behind the scenes at the £11m St Davids project

A major project is underway to build a new lifeboat station near St Davids.

ITV News has had an exclusive chance to see the work so far, where a state of the art facility is being built in some of the toughest conditions around the Welsh coast...

Watch the report from Mike Griffiths below:

The project will cost more than £11 million.

It'll mean better facilities for the crews, and a permanent home for the new Tamar-class lifeboat.

While the work's being carried out it's business as usual... with the current station housing the Tyne-class boat.

The crew and the wider community have raised more than £150,000 towards the project.

It's not the end of the story for the old station. It's now looking for a new owner...

There's been a station on the site since the 1860s. The new one will continue that legacy for decades to come.
