WATCH: Stranded couple saved from cliffs by lifeguards

RNLI lifeguards were contacted by relatives of two people who had gone missing off a coastal path in Pembrokeshire.

The pair were spotted by Helm Sam Ellison and fellow lifeguard Ben Rogers on the coastline between Newgale and neighbouring Penycwm, cut off from the coastal path by the incoming tide.

They had no way of returning to the beach or the path by themselves, but were brought on board the rescue boat and brought safely round to Newgale to be runited with their relatives.

Fast moving tides mean it van be easy to get cut off, so seeking advice on safe places to walk and checking tide times before setting out is essential. The people in this rescue had done the right thing and informed relatives when to expect them home so the alarm was raised.
