The Isle of Man TT ended on a high for Northern Ireland’s Michael Dunlop, after he took victory in the Senior race.

The Ballymoney man, on his Bennetts Suzuki, raced to a win by 13.3 seconds over second-placed Peter Hickman and Dean Harrison in third.

His brother William Dunlop finished in 10th.

It came after the race was red-flagged due to a crash at the 27th Milestone during the second lap.

Popular Tyco BMW rider Ian Hutchinson – a 16-time winner at the TT – had to be airlifted to hospital with a leg fracture.

The race was restarted over four laps and Michael Dunlop triumphed to take what was his 15th win on the Mountain circuit.

During this year’s TT action, he had already won out in the first Supersport race in which William Dunlop finished fourth.

There was also a seventh place finish for Michael Dunlop in the Lightweights race which was won by Michael Rutter.

Kiwi Bruce Anstey won the TT Zero race over second-placed Guy Martin and Daley Mathison in third.

Ben and Tom Birchall won both Sidecar races.

Peter Hickman won the Joey Dunlop Championship with 76 points, with Ian Hutchinson second on 61 points and Michael Dunlop third on 60 points.

The TT was, however, overshadowed by the losses of three riders who were killed while competing.

Irishman Alan Bonner, 33 and from Co Meath, died on Wednesday following a crash during a qualifying session.

He had held the record as the fastest ever TT rider from the Republic of Ireland with a lap of 127.090mph which he achieved in 2015.

Earlier, 28-year-old Dutch rider Jochem van den Hoek was killed during the Superstock race.

And Englishman Davey Lambert, 48, died in hospital on Tuesday evening after being injured in a crash during the Superbike race on Sunday.
