Popular Irish motorcyclist Alan Bonner has died following a crash during a qualifying session at the Isle of Man TT.

The 33-year-old, from Co Meath, was involved in an incident at the 33rd Milestone during the qualifying session for the Senior TT on Wednesday afternoon.

Organisers have extended their sympathies to his partner Gemma and to his family and friends.

Alan Bonner made his debut on the Mountain circuit in 2014.

Just a year later, he became the fastest ever TT rider from the Republic of Ireland - with a lap of 127.090mph.

His death comes after that of Dutch rider Jochem van den Hoek just hours earlier, while Englishman Davey Lambert died in hospital on Tuesday from injuries sustained Sunday’s opening Superbike race.
