A 1950s guitar signed by some of the North East's most famous faces including Sting, Robson Green and Phil Sumner is being auctioned in aid of charity.

The 1951 Fender Telecaster Precision, a model, favoured by Sting, is going under the hammer next month at Tyneside auctioneers Anderson and Garland.

Tim Healy and his former wife Denise Welch have also signed the model.

The celebrities signed the guitar as part of a charity auction for Sting's 50th birthday, nearly twenty years ago.

It was held by the Varity Club Great Britain, and took place at the Civic Centre in Newcastle in tribute to the Tyneside singer on 7 May 2004.

The winning bidder will get the guitar which is in perfect condition and still has the original Fender tags. It also comes with the evening's programme of events.

It has an estimate of £2,000 to £3,000.

The auction at North East auction house Anderson & Garland is taking place on Wednesday 15 June.
