Police investigating the death of a cyclist in Sunderland have identified him as Stuart Price.

It happened around 10.25am on Sunday morning 18 February.

Police received a report of a crash between a black jaguar and a man on a bike on Colliery Lane next to junction with Murton Lane in Hetton-Le-Hole.

Emergency services attended but 24-year old Price from County Durham died at the scene.

Specialist officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.

The driver of the jaguar, who stopped at the scene of the collision, was not injured but was very shaken.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances around the collision and police are now appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.

At the time of the crash Stuart Price was wearing a Boyle Sports Sunderland AFC football shirt and blue adidas trainers with white stripes.

He was riding a distinctive white Lapierre full suspension mountain bike.
