Residents vow to fight cycle hub plans 'all the way'
The developers of a planned new cycle hub hope it will make Tynemouth a destination for cyclists across the region.
The new cafe and service station for bikes would be built overlooking the mouth of the Tyne, but the idea has left some residents feeling uneasy.
Those living on the Spanish Battery say they're worried it will spoil the look and feel of the headland, and eventually fear the hub will be used for private parties and wedding functions.
They say they have a petition signed by over 1500 people and are urging others to fight the plans.
The developers though of The Watch House Garden Cycle Hub say this is not the case, and it will be used by cyclists finishing the Coast to Coast bike ride - offering a focal point for the end of the challenge.
A planning application has not been put in yet with North Tyneside Council.
