RAF Typhoon display at Sunderland Airshow
RAF Typhoons have been added to the programme at this year's Sunderland International Airshow.
The Display Team will perform on the evening of Friday 22 July and are part of the full daytime flying programme on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 July.
The Typhoon FGR4 provides the RAF with a highly capable and extremely agile multi-role combat aircraft, capable of being deployed in the full spectrum of air operations, including air policing, peace support and high intensity conflict.
Display pilot, Flight Lieutenant Mark Long, said:
In addition to the Typhoon, the Red Arrows are due on Friday and Saturday, plus the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flies on the Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday.
Other teams taking part on Saturday and Sunday are: RAF Falcons, Royal Navy Black Cats, The Blades, Norwegian historic Flight MiG 15 and Vampires, OV-10 Bronco, Curtis P40 Warhawk and P51 Mustang and the stunning Fairey Swordfish from the Royal Navy Historic Flight.
Deputy Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Harry Trueman said:
Organised by Sunderland City Council, the airshow is now in its 28th year and is widely recognised as one of the largest free events of its kind. It regularly attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators to the city’s coastline at Roker and Seaburn.
