The British Army is holding a two-day recruitment roadshow at Northumbria University in Newcastle for students and recent graduates. The drive aims to showcase the role of Army Officer as a highly-skilled career path that offers leadership, challenge and the opportunity to do something that makes a difference.

Latest figures show a decline in the number of graduates and school leavers pursuing careers as Amy Officers, with only 81% of posts filled in the past year. Graduate recruitment in the Armed Forces has fallen steadily over the last decade and is now 27% lower than in 2005.

Students and graduates will be able to meet young officers today on the second day of the recruitment drive. They will also have the opportunity to take part in virtual reality experiences including a Sandhurst obstacle course and a parachute jump.

A virtual beep test will also give them the opportunity to test their fitness in competition with an Army Physical Training Instructor.

The two-day roadshow concludes on Friday, October 23, at 17.00.
