Northallerton Prison owners looking for a partner in crime

A North Yorkshire council is looking for a partner to redevelop Northallerton's former prison.

Hambleton District Council bought the site earlier this year, two years after the jail closed.

Now the local authority is searching for a private sector partner to help regenerate the 3.4 acre site in the centre of town.

Redevelopment work, which could see mix of retail, leisure, housing and community use premises, should begin next year and finish in 2017.

The council is holding a promotional day next month when prospective bidders can visit the prison and learn more about the plans.
