Northallerton Prison

Sophia Constable was 11 when she was sentenced to three weeks of hard labour followed by four years in a reformatory for stealing a loaf of bread in 1872.

Hambleton District council is asking firms to tender for work to develop Northallerton's former prison, which it bought for £1.4 in 2015.

Hambleton District Council is searching for a private sector partner to help regenerate the 3.4 acre site in the centre of Northallerton.
