Starting at York Minster, the Olympic Torch paid a visit to the National Railway Museum before making its way through through Thirsk, Northallerton and Richmond.

In Northallerton, 13 year old George Conway, who has a rare muscular disorder, carried the torch, accompanied by his father.

2012 Chairman Lord Coe greeted the torch in Richmond, where he also opened the new wing at Richmond School. The flame was carried on through the Market Square to the castle.
