The parents of Nicole Rich, who had Batten disease, have announced their beloved daughter has died from 'severe complications resulting from a chest infection'.

The Hinnies were set up by the charity Equal Arts, which runs creative groups for older people across the North East. When the pandemic forced a pause in the workshops, the Singing Hinnies were born.

Hexham Road West in the village is closed. Police, fire services and gas and electric engineers are at the scene.
