Osprey breeding project marks 25th anniversary

Rutland Water's newest Osprey chicks have fledged.  The arrival of the chicks in May marked a milestone at the reservoir.

The Osprey had been extinct in England for 150 years but now they're thriving again, and it is down to a project at Rutland Water.

This is the earliest recorded date of eggs hatching at Rutland Water nature reserve. 


Aqua Park Rutland, based at Whitwell, launches tomorrow and will open for just eight weeks until September 4.


A popular visitor attraction is celebrating it's 40th anniversary. Rutland Water reservoir was created after two villages were flooded. 



A record number of Ospreys have returned to Rutland Water this year to breed.

Two new Osprey chicks have hatched at Rutland Water.  These birds are rarely seen in Britain.

A second Osprey chick has hatched at Rutland Water.  Cameras placed near the nest caught the moment both chicks came into the world.
