Earliest ever osprey chicks hatch at Rutland Water

Record-breaking temperatures weren't the only attraction for crowds at Rutland Water nature reserve over the bank holiday weekend.

Osprey chicks have hatched there for the first time this year - it's the earliest the chicks have ever been born in the UK.

As well as being the hottest May Bank Holiday since 1978, this is the earliest recorded date of eggs hatching at Rutland Water.

The previous record was in 2014 when the first osprey egg hatched on May 14th.
