Red Squirrels

Red squirrels have faced threats from habitat loss, disease and the invasive grey squirrels.

Conservationists are attempting to build woodland corridors by planting trees and hedgerows to allow the two sets of the native squirrel to mix.

Red squirrels have been introduced at Castle Ward in a bid to establish a new population in the grounds of the Co Down property.
