Chief inspector of prisons Charlie Taylor details “decrepit” conditions, rising violence, self-harm and widespread drug use, in a report published on Tuesday.

The British-Irainian dual citizen was released from prison in 2022 and is speaking at the Longford Lecture on how her experience relates to the British system.

The 23-year-old escaped from HMP Wandsworth in south-west London in September 2023 by clinging to the underside of a food delivery truck.
