A mother and her child narrowly escaped serious injury after a car veered off the road in Solihull, crashed into a post and spun onto the pavement.

Four-month-old Francesca Purssell died at Heartlands Hospital on April 2 this year, a coroner confirmed before suspending the inquest.

The 46-year-old man was hit during rush hour yesterday evening. Police say the car did not stop at the scene.
