Man killed in hit-and-run

A man has been killed after a hit-and-run during rush hour on a major road in Solihull.

The 46-year-old victim, from Olton, was hit by what isbelieved to be a black VW Golf as he walked along the pavement on Warwick Road at just before 5pm on Monday (16th July).

West Midlands Police said the driver of the car did not stop at the scene, and is thought to have driven off in the direction of Acocks Green.

The road, which is a major route in and out of the city, remains closed onthis morning between Old Warwick Road and Richmond Road and is likely to be shut until at least midday.

Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield said:

Anyone who saw the collision or saw a dark VW Golf in the area after the incident is asked to call police on 101.
