Six dead guinea pigs "showing signs of long-term neglect" have been found near a public bus stop in Guernsey, the GSPCA animal shelter has said.

The young guinea pig, believed to be around six months to a year old and named DiscoPig, was rescued and will soon be available for adoption.

Police say four of the animals were found abandoned in a park the following day.

They were discovered by a member of the public who was walking his dog in the Damolly Road area of Newry on Friday and alerted the USPCA.

Two guinea pigs have been saved by the RSPCA after being dumped in Ashgate Plantation, Chesterfield.
