The New Zealand government has expressed concerns that too many dogs are being euthanised due to racing injuries.

Animal rights campaigners have reacted with anger after a mechanical issue at a greyhound race impeded some of the dogs exiting the traps during a race.

The Hope Rescue charity gained 35,101 signatures in their petition to the Welsh parliament as part of a growing movement calling for a UK-wide ban of the sport.
