The lifeboat station at Eyemouth was established in 1876 for the protection of local fishermen during periods of bad weather.

Following reports that a dog had fallen over a cliff, the UK Coastguard launched both Eyemouth RNLI lifeboats last night (1 September).

A medal has been presented to a Borders lifeboat station to honour a rescue carried out by its crew 99 years ago.

Crews were launched to rescue a dive boat, which broke down leaving the crew stranded with four divers still in the water.
