The Italian-Albanian migrant deal, though controversial, has been endorsed by EU President Ursula von der Leyen.

A Home Office spokesperson said the department makes 'no apologies for using every means necessary to stop the boats and save lives.'

The foreign secretary is expected to use the Berlin Process Summit, in the Albanian capital of Tirana, to seek greater co-operation on the movement of migrants.
