Sir Terry Wogan: Tributes to legendary broadcaster

Tributes have poured in for much-loved broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan who has died aged 77.

The Irish-born presenter, best known for hosting the Eurovision Song Contest and Children in Need, died after "a short but brave battle with cancer".

David Cameron said he was "someone millions came to feel was their own special friend", while Tony Hall, the director general of the BBC, hailed Sir Terry as a "national treasure".

Sir Terry Wogan's funeral will take place next week, the BBC has announced.

The veteran broadcaster died of cancer on Sunday at the age of 77.

The Irish-born presenter was best known for his roles hosting chat show Wogan, the Eurovision Song Contest and the Children in Need fundraisers.

Next week's funeral will be a private service for the family and no further details will be released.

Henry Kelly on 60 years of friendship with Terry Wogan

Henry Kelly knew Sir Terry Wogan for 60 years.

They went to the same school together in Dublin before both enjoying long radio and TV careers in Britain.

He has shared some of his own special memories of their friendship with ITV News.

Henry Kelly: Terry Wogan was 'everyone's friend'

Sir Terry Wogan's longtime friend and fellow broadcaster Henry Kelly has said his death has had such an impact on the public because "we all felt as if we knew him".

Speaking to ITV News about his friend, Mr Kelly said he could be relied upon for any favour and was "spiritually generous".

He added that Sir Terry was "everyone's friend" and he "loved every second" of his broadcasting career.

Chris Evans: Terry Wogan was my radio dad

DJ Chris Evans has paid an emotional tribute to Terry Wogan, calling the veteran broadcaster his "radio dad" and "the absolute governor".

He told GMB of his "disbelief and shock" over the 77-year-old's death from cancer yesterday, adding: "If we all had 1% of what he had, we'd all be 100% better."
