Labour leader Ed Miliband has been egged during a visit to a street market in south London. The Metropolitan police has told ITV News it will not be making any arrests after the Labour leader "did not wish to take the matter any further."

Former deputy prime minister Lord Prescott has told ITV News he thinks the police should question a man who threw eggs at Labour leader Ed Miliband in south London today.
But Lord Prescott has insisted there needs to be a clear message that it is "unacceptable for public people or individuals to be assaulted simply for publicity".

Egg thrower: Miliband 'has not represented the poor'
The man who pelted Labour leader Ed Miliband with eggs during a walkabout in a market in south London today said he was protesting against "all the politicians' corrupt policies against homelessness."
Speaking to Channel 4 News Presenter Cathy Newman shortly after the incident, Dean Porter said:
"He is part of the problem. He has not represented the poor enough, just like any other politician, he is representing banks."
Mr Porter, who said he had not voted since 1997, joked that the only thing that would make him vote for Labour again would be if David Miliband was leader.

The Metropolitan police has told ITV News it will not be making any arrests after Ed Miliband was egged earlier today.
A police spokesperson said the Labour leader "did not wish to take the matter any further."
