"The Quadfather" carries the Team GB flag
Hampshire's Peter Norfolk, who's known as "The Quadfather" is carrying the flag for Team GB in the Paralympic opening ceremony.
Peter lives in Alton. He made history at the 2004 Athens Paralympic Games when he won Britain’s first ever medals in Wheelchair Tennis – a gold in the Quad Singles and a silver in Quad Doubles, where he played alongside Mark Eccleston.
In 1979, Peter had a motorcycle accident which left him with a spinal cord injury.
Keeping the Flame alive
Last night, a team of Torchbearers carried the Paralympic Flame onto the stage at the Aylesbury Flame Celebration in the Market Square to mark their contribution to the development of Paralympic sport.
A spectacular firework display kicked off celebrations as the Flame started on it's 24 hour journey to the Olympic Park for tonight's Opening Ceremony - marking the start of the Paralympic Games.

Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson has praised the Royal Mail for painting post boxes gold for paralympic medallists.
Speaking before the start of the Paralympic Torch Relay from Stoke Mandeville, Dame Tanni told Meridian that many athletes are more excited by the post boxes than the prospect of winning medals.
