Flood alert for Swindon after heavy rain
A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the River Ray and Swinbourne for West Swindon area to above Water Eaton. Low lying land and roads will be affected first. This warning comes as heavy rain from Dorset and the west country moves east this evening.
Former MP and Minister flooded in Dorset
Lord Knight of Weymouth has taken refuge in a nearby pub after his Dorset home was flooded earlier today. The former Labour Minister and South Dorset MP has tweeted a photo of his home. West Dorset saw three weeks of ran fall in just 12 hours earlier, causing flash floods in some parts.

Village swamped by flood waters
Flood waters have swamped a Dorset village after heavy rainfall. Click on the video to see how badly hit Burton Bradstock was today. Petrol stations and playgrounds were left under water after three weeks worth of rain fell in a 12 hour period. A severe weather warning is still in place.
Heavy rain hammering it down in Hampshire

River or road? Fire crews respond to flooding
Fire crews in Dorset have been called to more than 60 incidents today after heavy rain caused flash flooding - particularly in the west of the county. In this photo a rural road at Long Bredy near Abbotsbury looks more like a river, whilst a coastguard helicopter surveys the flooding.
Bridge road impassable after flooding
A road near a bridge in Dorset has been closed due to flooding. The A356 Dorchester Road at Maiden Newton near Weymouth is reportedly impassable.

Risk to life as flood waters rise

Flash flooding after heavy rain
No cricket, but anyone for water polo?
A prankster has left a notice at a waterlogged cricket pitch, saying it will be better for water polo or synchronised swimming. The notice which reads "Sorry no cricket, only water polo and synchronised swimming" was tied to the railings at Burley Cricket Pitch in the New Forest this morning.
