Great South Run entries open after storm cancellation
Entries for the 2025 Great South Run have opened but organisers warn there are only a limited number of places after the majority of last year’s participants rolled their entry over into the 2025 event.
Over 25,000 runners were signed up to last year’s Great South Run weekend which had to be cancelled due to adverse weather caused by storm Ashley.
This year's event is to take place on the weekend of 18 and 19 October but it's expected to sell out within weeks.
The popular 10 mile run draws people from across the UK and beyond and takes them on a scenic route including Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard and Southsea Castle with views of the Isle of Wight.
Tens of thousands of spectators line the route each year, charity cheering buses, bands and entertainment stations positioned throughout the course, helping to raise millions of pounds for charities.
The event kicks off on Saturday 18 October with the Junior and Mini Great South Run and the Great South 5K.
