'Miracle' nobody seriously injured in M40 crash between multiple lorries and car

Police said it's a "miracle" nobody was left with serious injuries following a multiple vehicle pile up on the M40 in Oxfordshire overnight.

A number of lorries and a car crashed on the motorway just after 2am on Saturday morning.

All three lanes were blocked between junctions 10 and 11 after the incident, which happened near to an earlier collision.

Police say 'multiple' lorries were involved in the crash.

Amazingly nobody was trapped, and all occupants of the vehicles involved managed to escape, suffering only minor injuries.

In a statement, Thames Valley Police said: "From the photos you can see the extent of the damage to the vehicles and it is a miracle nobody was seriously injured.

"We can’t stress how important it is to keep your eyes on the road, wear your seat belt, take breaks if driving for long periods of time and give yourself enough free space in the road ahead to allow you to come to a stop safely if you should need to.

"Collisions happen when you run out of time and space."
